Sustainable reduction of fuel costs

Fuel costs make up for roughly 80% of total operating cost in power generation, and selection of fuel is a critical step in economical planning. The dynamics of the crude oil market and environmental awareness have created a run towards gaseous fuels, such as natural gas (LNG or CNG), biogas, ‘syn gas’, flare gas, mine gas or waste water and landfill gas. Dedicated gas engines are an option if the gas of choice is available uninterruptedly in economical and physical sense.

However, investment in diesel engines remains the safe choice in common situations, and even more so after adding the option to operate on (intermittently) available special gaseous fuel. Our add-on dual fuel conversion technology can save on your fuel costs and maintenance costs, while attributing to lower emissions.

How does it work?

A dual fuel engine is based on a traditional diesel engine, working on the principle of compression ignition (diesel cycle). In the dual fuel mode, gaseous fuel is admitted prior to compression. Once the gaseous mixture is compressed, diesel fuel is injected to initiate ignition. This system allows for diesel fuel saving while retaining the reliability and characteristics of diesel engines.

Dual fuel conversion by add-on technology is technically possible on any diesel engine type.

Practical implementation

Based on your general information regarding engine type, conditions and fuels, you will be presented the estimated costs, requirements and benefits of dual fuel conversion. After this has shown to be feasible, we can conduct site inspection for a detailed technical proposal, quotation and advise.

On agreement, the dual fuel kit will be engineered, assembled, programmed and tested prior to shipment. Depending on the site conditions, installation and commissioning by our engineers can be made successively. Your site staff is instructed by the commissioning engineers about operation of the dual fuel system and a specific user manual is submitted.

Additionally, staff can be trained to the desired level of skills in operating, adjusting, servicing and modifying system functions.
